Objectives  of the lesson
Students should  be able to  tell  the classes of food and their  functions 
Lesson development
(Activities)
Activity 1-  Food classes
Draw ss attention to the picture and ask them questions
Tr reads the text  twice . Then  ss  read the text   loudly  in groups and individually

Activity 2- Pause and practise
Play the audio  video and pause to ask questions like :-
What are carbohydrates ?
Why are carbohydrates important ?
Where are they found ?
Do you eat carbohydrates food ?
When do you eat them ?
Give two examples of protein ?
Why are protein important ?
The question and answers will help them to be aware of the sentence patterns  used to give factual information on classes of food.
Pair work- SS do the Q and A with one another. Ensure that all ss participate actively .

Activity  1-Breakfast ? Lunch ? Dinner ?
Draw ss attention to the picture
Ask them questions  (refer to handbook on pg 103)
 Encourage ss to talk about healthy and unhealthy  food eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner to prepare  them to make choices for healthy meal plan
Aak them two questions
What  types of food are healthy  ?
What types   food are unhealthy ?

Activity 2 : Let me tell you
Get ss to sit in a circle and take turn to tell their classmates their meal plans and give reasons for their choices
Tr guides ss with the following questions
What do you eat for breakfast ?
What time do have your breakfast ?
What do you eat for lunch ?
What time do have your  lunch  ?
What do you eat for  dinner ?
What time do have your  dinner  ?

Tr encourage ss to use the vocabulary and sentence patterns  learned earlier
 Ensure that all ss involved actively in the  Let me tell you  session
