Objectives  of the lesson
Students should  be able to  tell the steps  in making  a pencil holder.
Lesson development
(Activities)
Activity 1- Direct me
1.Draw  students’  attention to the picture.
2.Ask the following questions .
What do see on this page ?
What are the things needed to make  a pen  holder ?
3. Play the audio video DVD. Get students to watch the video.

Activity 2-Pause and practise
1.Play the audio video DVD and pause at the following sentence patterns:-

First, cut the drink packet
Second,  paint the ice cream sticks ……..
Next ,glue together the ice cream sticks…..
Then , tie a ribbon around the pen holder.
Finally , your pen  holder is ready.

At every pause, teacher initiates discussion by asking students to retell the step.

2. Get students to retell the steps in the video at the pauses  selected to encourage the use of the sentence patterns.
For example
First, cut the drink packet.
Teacher asks the following question.
What is the first step ?
What is the second step ?, etc
(Accept answers that are not given in complete sentences.)
Ensure that all students participate actively. Replay and pause if necessary.
This activity is to encourage ss to learn the sentence patterns in a non threatening way

(Activities)
Activity  1-Look and tell
Draw ss attention  to the pictures
Ask the following questions
(Refer to Tr”s hand book  on page 83 )
Get ss to work in groups of  five. They look at the pictures from either B or D
Each group will discuss the steps in making the puppet or a flower vase
Allocate 20 minutes for them to discuss
Each group will present the process of making either a puppet or a flower vase
Each member will take turn to describe one step in the process  of making either a puppet or a flower vase in his or her group


Activity 2 : Gather and tell
Get ss to work in pairs. Each pair will describe the process of making the chosen  recycled product
Students are given 20 minutes to prepare the  task.
Students take turn to talk about the process
This activity is to encourage ss to build their confidence in speaking the English language without having to write.
